Hello! My name is Mrs. Kerr and I am the head of Art & Design at St. Jude's Academy. I hold an Honours Bachelor Degree in English and Visual Arts from the University of Windsor and a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University. My interests include: travel, 19th century literature, rugby, ice hockey, bluegrass music, mixed media art & art history.

AVI4M

  • Today students were introduced to the artistic period/style of Cubism.
  • Students were asked questions, discussed, and analyzed various artists and artworks from the time period.
Homework (Due next class): Students are to create a two-page spread to visualize Cubism and answer the questions posted in the image below. They may also use the PPT attached for reference. Students are also asked to bring a colour print of an 8.5 x 11 image next class.

GR. 7 DESIGN
  • We discussed and analyzed examples of the Elements of Art & Principles of Design. Students are to research their given topic to begin creating informative posters next class.
GR. 8 DESIGN
  • Students conference with the teacher one-on-one to discuss their justification of a solution to an everyday problem. 
  • Once given the go-ahead, students began working on the next step of the Design Cycle by Analyzing Existing Products. Instructions below:

  • Today we discussed and practiced making great decision in the art room.
  • Students were given their "Great Choices" cards to decorate. Students will receive a hole punch in their card each time they make a great decision in class. Once they have made 20 great decisions they will receive a prize from the prize box!
