Hello! My name is Mrs. Kerr and I am the head of Art & Design at St. Jude's Academy. I hold an Honours Bachelor Degree in English and Visual Arts from the University of Windsor and a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University. My interests include: travel, 19th century literature, rugby, ice hockey, bluegrass music, mixed media art & art history.

Monday Sept. 14th, Tuesday Sept 15th, Wednesday Sept. 16th

JK & SK Art

  • Students drew Self-Portraits and practiced writing their names.
  • SK students learned about warm and cool colours. They are currently working on an art project to display their knowledge of said colours.

Grade 7 & 8 Design

  • Students participated in a Kahoot Quiz introducing them to IB Contexts, Concepts & the Statement of Inquiry.
  • Students were introduced to the IB Design Cycle. They answered the following questions followed by a classroom discussion:
    • What is the Design Cycle?
    • Why is it important?
  • Students created a Design Cycle to display in the classroom for future reference.
  • Students were introduced to the concepts of Learning Goal, Success Criteria, and Assessment "For," "As," and "Of" learning and came up with examples for each assessment strategy.

  • Students wrote an initial reflection based on the first section of reading from the book The Girl in Hyacinth Blue.
