- Hello! My name is Mrs. Kerr and I am the head of Art & Design at St. Jude's Academy. I hold an Honours Bachelor Degree in English and Visual Arts from the University of Windsor and a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University. My interests include: travel, 19th century literature, rugby, ice hockey, bluegrass music, mixed media art & art history.

Today we discussed and drew what we would find under the ground during Spring and Summer.
GR. 9 & 10 ART
I have extended the Studio Design due date to Friday May 27th at the beginning of class. Students received their Portfolio assignment as well as their review package for the final exam. BOTH the Portfolio & Review are DUE Monday May 30th.
GR. 7 & 8 DESIGN
Today Students used class time to complete the Sustainability portion of their review = due Friday.

Today we took up the Confederation portion of the review package. Students used the rest of class time to ask questions and complete the 2nd half of the Confederation portion of their review = due Friday. Students could also use the rest of class time to work on their Timeline projects.

Track & Field Day!
Track and Field is taking place this Thursday at SJA.
Ice cream cones will be for sale outside during the event for $2.00. All students are welcomed to purchase an ice cream cone to cool down during the event.

Students met for one-on-one conferences regarding their Louis Riel poster and argument assignment. When they were not meeting with the teacher they were beginning initial research for their final history project and organizing their notes for exam review.

Students reflected on their Studio Design project by answering questions involving colour choices and colour theory. They used the rest of class time to work on their project.
Students continued painting their skateboards. Those who are finished painting/drawing met with me one-on-one to go over their artist labels and statements.

Today was the last day to work on their Wanted and Propaganda Louis Riel Posters as well as their argument for tomorrow.

- Students should also be prepared to conference with the teacher regarding their stance on Louis Riel and be able to defend their opinion with solid facts.

*If students are not complete by this date they will need to arrive early to school or stay after school to work on their skateboards until completion.
*This week I will be at the school until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday May 18th if students would like to stay late to continue working. I will also be coming to the school at 7:30 if students would like to arrive early to work.

IMPORTANT!
The decision has been made to change the last day of school from a half day to a full day of school.
This is due to the new date of the Summer Fiesta which is being held on May 28th. As a result, a half-day on the last day of school is no longer required.
After-care will be operating on June 10th as normal, which will be from 3:45p.m. - 6:00pm.

Today we refreshed our memories on the Primary Colours. Students were asked to draw items that start with the same colour as each primary colour (Red, Yellow & Blue).

Students showed me their colour logs for their Studio Design project. They used the rest of class time to work on their Decor Strategies section of the assignment.
