Hello! My name is Mrs. Kerr and I am the head of Art & Design at St. Jude's Academy. I hold an Honours Bachelor Degree in English and Visual Arts from the University of Windsor and a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University. My interests include: travel, 19th century literature, rugby, ice hockey, bluegrass music, mixed media art & art history.

November 30th

All classes worked very hard to create decorations and put things together for the Christmas Concert and to decorate the school for the holiday season!


Important Information:

1. January lunch forms are available for students from their homeroom teachers. Please have these in as soon as possible.

2. HATCH program forms need to be back by THIS THURSDAY, DECEMBER 3rd, 2015.

3. All Rubrics and Assignment Details for both Art & Technology (MYP) have been posted in the classroom for students to refer to while completing their Unit #2 Projects to be submitted December 15th!!

November 27th

PYP Art Classes

Today students continued making props for their class performances and decorations for the Christmas Concert. The grade two classes also learned how to draw Reindeer which they will colour next week and put up in the school for all to see:










7 & 8 Technology

Students had the opportunity to work on both the technology and art unit #2 assignments during class today.

9 & 10 Technology

Students had the opportunity to work on their unit #2 technology video project in class today. They also helped clean and set up the room for Open House this Saturday! (THANK YOU!!)

7 & 8 Technology: Program Re-Submission!!

Students are being given the opportunity to re-submit their Christmas Concert Program on December 15th along with their Unit #2 Art Project. Programs are to be printed in colour when re-submitted with the following criteria covered in its design:

 Section for Special Mentions (who‐did‐what)

November 25th

Grade 5 & 6

Students were excited to create something for Christmas so today we had the opportunity to Free-Draw anything related to the holidays.

We learned how to draw Christmas trees and added our very own decorations to them. These drawings will be posted up in the school by the end of the week for all to see!







Grade 7-10 Art & Technology

Students had time to work on their Unit #2 Summative Assignments Today.

Grade 7 - 11 Art: Unit #2 Summative Assignment Details!!

Christmas Design Assignment

Goal: Draw the auditorium as you believe it should look completely decorated for the Christmas Concert.


Your drawing should include the following:

1. Elements of the Theme

2. From your Perspective: please utilize the auditorium space during class for proper perspective drawing and to get ideas.

3. Completed in Full Colour: please use pencil crayon.

Your entire assignment should include:

1. Design Drawing - drawing illustrating how the auditorium should look when completely decorated with the current theme. Drawing should be completely coloured (pencil crayon) from the student’s perspective.

*Grade 9 & 10 students are welcome to use an online or computer program to visualize their auditorium design if they choose to do so. Said designs are to be printed (in colour) for submission*

2.
 Written Portion - Using the handout, with questions to guide their written answers, students are to write in full sentences and type their final responses for submission.

Grade 7 - students are to write (at least) 5-7 sentences.
Grade 8 - students (at least) 7-10 sentences.
Grade 9 & 10 - students (at least) 10-15 sentences.

3.
 Documentation of Specific Task - any process photos, lists, sketches, information logs, videos etc. are to be submitted to document specific tasks completed by the student for the Christmas Concert.


** This project is due December 15th **



*Please Submit: Drawing, Typed Answers, & Documentation in a folder on the due date*
