Hello! My name is Mrs. Kerr and I am the head of Art & Design at St. Jude's Academy. I hold an Honours Bachelor Degree in English and Visual Arts from the University of Windsor and a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University. My interests include: travel, 19th century literature, rugby, ice hockey, bluegrass music, mixed media art & art history.

GR. 7 DESIGN

  • Students were introduced to, and given examples of, the Principles of Design.
  • They used the rest of class time to draw/depict each principle in their Process Journals (anything not completed in class is homework for Wednesday)

  • Today we played Emotions Bingo!

  • Today we continued on with the Principles of Design in detail, with examples, and questions throughout to solidify learning.
GR. 8 DESIGN
  • Students worked with the groups at their table to answer the following questions which were then discussed as a class:
    • What is a simple invention?
    • What is the purpose/function of a simple invention?
  • They then worked individually to research a simple invention to present next class that answers the following questions:
    • Name of the Invention
    • When was it invented?
    • Who invented/created it?
    • What is its function?
    • Does it function as originally intended?
    • Include a photo/drawing of the invention
    • What was used to create it?
    • Three Interesting Facts
*Questions and Answers are to be typed in a ONE-PAGE document to be printed for next class!
