Hello! My name is Mrs. Kerr and I am the head of Art & Design at St. Jude's Academy. I hold an Honours Bachelor Degree in English and Visual Arts from the University of Windsor and a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University. My interests include: travel, 19th century literature, rugby, ice hockey, bluegrass music, mixed media art & art history.

GR. 7 DESIGN
  • Today we went through the Global Context, Key Concept, Related Concepts and Statement of Inquiry for our first unit: The Logo.
Due Monday Sept. 19th: Unit/Statement of Inquiry Visualization

GR. 8 DESIGN
  • Today we went through the Global Context, Key Concept, Related Concepts and Statement of Inquiry for our first unit: The Simple Invention.

  • Students were introduced to the following Principles of Art/Design:
    • Balance, Emphasis, Contrast & Variety
  • Students analyzed various artistic pieces (paintings and drawings) to practice their new knowledge.

Due Monday Sept. 19th: Find ONE photo for the Principles of Design discussed in class:

     1) Balance - Identify the type of balance (Asymmetrical, Symmetrical or Radial)
     2) Contrast - Explain how contrast is used in the art piece
     3) Emphasis - Explain where the emphasis is within the art piece
     4) Variety - Explain how variety is used within the art piece
