Hello! My name is Mrs. Kerr and I am the head of Art & Design at St. Jude's Academy. I hold an Honours Bachelor Degree in English and Visual Arts from the University of Windsor and a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University. My interests include: travel, 19th century literature, rugby, ice hockey, bluegrass music, mixed media art & art history.

September 14th

Grade 5 & 6

Today we talked about and viewed works of environmental artist Andy Goldsworthy. We then went out and tried it on our own! Students are asked to bring a device to take photos of their work next day.



Senior Kindergarten

Today we were working on our listening skills and drew pictures of our favourite animals and wrote the names of the animals underneath. Our favourite animals were horses, dragons, and unicorns!

Grade 7 Art

Students finished completing their group identity posters which will be presented next class. 

Homework: refer to last weeks class for detailed information. Students are asked to draw three things that they cannot live without. They are also asked to bring in their journal research to be discussed next class.

Geography

Today we reviewed homework and discussed key terms and questions from Chapters 3 and 4. Students were given handouts to apply their knowledge of latitude, longitude and the compass rose and work through problem-solving independently.

Grade 7 Technology

Students were to hand in their personal logo designs (if it was not handed in today it is due next class). They were then given a handout to work through the elements of art and principles of design with drawn examples. 

Grade 8 Technology

Students were to hand in their simple invention designs (if it was not handed in today it is due next class). They were then given a handout on inventor "Rube Goldberg" they were to research a Rube Goldberg invention, sketch the design, and describe its step-by-step process.

Grade 9 & 10 Art

Students were asked to answer questions on the topic of identity to prepare them for their final unit project of a painted self-portrait. They were given the following information (in photo) to work through during class.
