Today we discussed what season we are currently in (Spring), which colours we associate with the season and what a pattern looks like. We continued our "Spring Hands" activity which will be put on display later this afternoon for parents to see when they enter the student entrance of the school.
GR. 7 & 8 DESIGN
We started our new unit which will focus on Graffiti Art & Design. We discussed as a class what the difference between graffiti and vandalism is, as well as their similarities.
GR. 8 HISTORY
Today we started our new unit on Confederation. We came up with our own class constitution while discussing rules, rights, and responsibilities. Students were asked the following questions after being read a fake newspaper headline "Canada to Start All Over!" :
1) What do you think this headline means?
2) Why do you think a country might want to start over?
3) Would you agree/disagree that Canada should start all over?
4) Do you think this would affect you (change your life) as an individual? How?
Students were then put into groups to work on various research questions revolving around "When did Canada come to be?" Groups will have continued class time on Monday and will present their findings to their peers.
