Technology: Students are asked to read through their assignment outline to answer questions posted last week, develop a mind map, and generate an idea to create their final video from. All mentioned are due in class on WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 18th to discuss the next step of the assignment.

 Grade 7 & 8 Technology

Today students were introduced to the idea of costume design. As a class we answered the questions "what is the importance of costume design?" and "Why do we create costumes?" We also looked at the following terms: adaptation, perspective, and resources.

Students are to begin working on their independent research project. They were given a character from the play Merchant of Venice and are to complete the following for Thursday's class:

1. Description of the Character
2. Photos of costumes from the period of the creation of the play
3. List of materials, fabrics, colours etc. used to create costumes.

Grade 8 History

Today we watched a few short clips of advertisements relating to Canada and discussed how they reflect Canada as a country. We talked about what history is and defined the term. Students were introduced to a map of Canada from the 1850's which was compared to the map students finished last week. We looked at and discussed British North America and the factors affected our country during that time period.
